The Harrison River it a river to marvel over, green majestic calm waters and all forms of wildlife. It is the single largest salmon producing tributary off the Fraser River, with all five Salmon species, Bull Trout, Cutthroat, Rainbow and Steelhead.....Also a river you can see Sturgeon swimming in the clean water and this fishery is excellent from September to April each year.
The Harrison is the single largest salmon producing tributary of the Fraser River. It flows just five miles from Harrison Lake to the Fraser through a scenic valley with gentle currents, it is a fisherman and naturalists dream, with abundant room in its pools and runs to fly fish, spin cast or drift fish. It is also a great river to see and catch White Sturgeon from September to May each year.
All five salmon species enter the river to spawn and migrate through, so in season multiple species days are common. On odd numbered years (2027, 2029) you can catch all fish salmon species in one day "a grand slam". Sockeye lead the way in August, Chinook over 30 pounds run October into November, and chum topping 25 pounds peak in late October. The prized Coho Salmon is the river’s trophy, and these fish filter in early September. On odd years, pink salmon arrive in the millions.
The Harrison is also home to an exceptional trout fishery. From March, thousands of aggressive sea run cutthroat pour in from the Pacific to feed on salmon minnows. Averaging around 14 inches, they offer great fun on light tackle and single hand fly rods right through to late April.
