White Sturgeon
Sturgeon fishing in and
around the Fraser River is unbelievable. These fish can grow to
over a
1000 lbs (454kg), and are in many ways what fishing the Great
River is all
about. This is an
experience to be remembered for the rest of your life.
The White Sturgeon in this watershed has not changed much from the
prehistoric era and is a match for any fisherman, and maybe the better.
It is hard to believe but these fish not only have incredible runs of
over a 1/3-mile (560m), but also provide amazing aerial leaps. They leap
so predictably that the guides can indicate when this is going to occur,
allowing enough time to prepare the camera. There is a large population in the Fraser River and its’ tributaries which can
range in size from 3 to 12 ft (90 to 365cm) in length. This is due to the catch and release regulations for all Sturgeon.
They are present all year long and are ready and willing
to provide the fight of your life.
Best Times: February to
November
